Join the Engineering Career Center on a quest to explore the career you have dreamed of!

Come with us to learn from engineers about daily life on the job and see what they do. Suitable for all levels of undergraduate and graduate students. Please choose ONE of the career road trips available for fall 2019:

Trip 1: 

Before the semester begins, we will visit the plastics manufacturing operations at Berry Global here in Lawrence. Priority will be given to mechanical engineering majors. Capacity 12 students. Friday, August 23, 2019, from 7:45am to 10:30am.

Trip 2:

Come with us to tour McFarlane Aviation in Baldwin City. We will see the engineering, quality, sales, manufacturing areas, and inventory warehouse. Priority will be given to aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering students. Capacity 10-20 students. Length one hour.. October 15, 2019 from 8:30am to 11:30am.

Trip 3:

Visit Garmin's manufacturing and research facility in Olathe, KS. Priority will be given to electrical engineering, computer engineering, and computer science students. October 15, 2019 from 1:30-4pm.

Trip 4:

Travel to the Honeywell-managed Department of Energy Kansas City National Security Campus in Kansas City, MO where 4,500 people work. This is your exclusive chance to visit a classified, government facility where engineers, scientists, and technicians work to ensure the nations nuclear deterrent is safe, secure, and reliable. You will learn about cutting-edge technical processes deployed to support national security. Due to security restrictions, all participants must be US citizens. Choose October 18 or 25, from 12:45-5pm. This trip is not supported with transportation from campus. You must provide your own transportation and RSVP  here  by October 9.

Trip 5:

Join us on a tour of the chemical manufacturing plant at ICL Performance Products here in Lawrence. Priority will be given to chemical and mechanical engineering majors. Capacity 6 students. Date TBD.

Drop-in Options

Every Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m., when fall and spring classes are in session, students can drop by the Engineering Career Center for a brief 15 minute meeting with a career advisor.
